History, even most recent,  is a surprisingly evolving realm, even though events that have taken place is a given, they are no longer evolving.

Nevertheless, fresh takes on past events emerge all the time and so history gets rewritten quite often. There are many reasons for this, objective and not, such as the new information or the interests of the sponsor (whoever is at the helm). One of this reasons is the changing societal norms. Arguably, it is not correct to apply the memes of today to events long gone, such as to apply the notion of war crimes to medieval wars. Yet, this happens often enough.

What’s interesting is that even in the past fifty or so years our beliefs have changed substantially. Remember the time when smoking was popular, when Johnny Carson and other TV personalities would casually light up a cigarette?
